Our story

ALUCA is an incorporated industry member association with a difference. We understand what it means to be just one part of a huge industry. And a constantly changing industry at that.

Life insurance professionals and service providers have their own distinctive needs, issues and opportunities. As the winds of regulatory and corporate change buffet the life insurance industry, it is has never been more important that ALUCA exists to focus exclusively on what matters most in life insurance.

We’ve come a long way since we were established in 1986 by a group of passionate life insurance underwriters and claims professionals. To this day, we are proudly member-owned and member-run, and committed to our historic objective of connecting peers across life insurance.

But we have also built on our foundations to increasingly educate and develop our members, creating a 1,800+ strong peer group organisation that delivers exactly what the life insurance industry needs to know, when it needs to know it.

Several years ago, we changed our name to encompass Australasia, following our members into New Zealand and Asia. That’s just one small example of the agility and responsiveness a focused niche membership group can achieve. What matters to life insurance professionals always matters to us.

Our rules

The Australasian Life Underwriting and Claims Association Inc is a not for profit industry member association. It is an incorporated association and as such is bound by rules. A copy of the current rules can be found in the Members Centre with the current Code of Conduct.
