ALUCA’s Life Insurance Underwriting, Claims & Rehabilitation competency framework (the ALUCA competency framework) was first launched in November 2017. It was the culmination of over 12 month’s work with extensive cross-industry collaboration led by a cross industry working party. It anchors ALUCA’s corner stone CPLI accreditation and CPD program.
It is a high level best practice competency framework designed to define the minimum levels of competency required at different levels (emerging through to expert) in life insurance underwriting, claims and rehabilitation roles and to assist companies in setting competency standards as well as providing a transparent demonstration of the minimum competencies required of these roles.
ALUCA members can also refer to it to help understand the competency requirements for their own career progression and to develop their competency development plans (cpd).
The framework was updated in June 2019 and will continue to be updated to ensure its ongoing relevance.
Special thanks to the UK’s Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) for their kind permission to use their best practice insurance framework that has been adapted for the Australian life insurance market by highly regarded ALUCA life member Tony O’Leary from G & T Risk management.
